Repeat Ordering of Prescriptions
Bridgegate Medical Centre along with other surgeries in Barrow is changing the way we accept repeat prescriptions.
From September 2020 patients will need to request their prescription directly through the practice instead of ordering through a pharmacy or medical equipment supplier.
This policy will be introduced across the whole of the Morecambe Bay area with the aim to reduce waste from over ordering, allow patients to take control of their own medication and give pharmacies more time to carry out essential everyday tasks.
We will continue to accept requests in the following ways:
- Online using Patient Access and apps such as MyGP:
- Visit https://www.patientaccess.com to register or alternatively telephone the surgery to set this up. Registration is a quick and easy process and only needs to be done once. Once registered you can order your repeat prescriptions, book appointments and view your test results online.
- In person: Tick the items you require and place the tear off slip in the box provided in reception. If the surgery is closed, please place your request in our external letterbox.
-
- By post: Please enclose a stamped addressed envelope if you want us to post your prescription back to you.
Prescriptions will be sent electronically to your nominated pharmacy. Please allow 2 working days for the surgery to process your prescription and check with your pharmacy how long they require before collecting your items.
If you have any questions or concerns about this ordering policy or you are unable to order your prescription in one of the above ways and don’t have a family member, friend or carer able to order on your behalf please telephone the surgery for advice.
Thank you.
Our surgery complies with the "Guidelines for Good Prescribing" issued by The Primary Care NHS Trust. Quantities to be issued will normally be no more than one or two weeks for acute conditions, where applicable, and normally not more than 28 days' supply of treatment for non-acute conditions.
